Kollaboration Honolulu

Just this past month, I auditioned for a music competition that features talent from many up and coming performers here in Hawaii. The catch is, you must be Asian-American or Pacific Islander to audition. I was one of many hopeful contestants who auditioned.

The musical competition is called Kollaboration Honolulu. It focuses on showing the musical talents of many Asian-American or Pacific Island individuals. Particularly, this year is its second annual event, following a successful event last year with Hawaii ties bringing home the gold. From individual acts, duets, to even bands, Kollaboration Honolulu showcases these types of talents to eventually send the winner of this division to compete in Nationals which is held in Los Angeles, California.

This year, the Hawaii competition will be held on August 10th at Mamiya Theatre.

Just a sneak peek at what's in stored for this exciting competition, the winner not only flies to Los Angeles to compete, but they earn a $1000 cash prize. If you win Nationals, you could win up to $20,000 and also the chance to fly to Asia to compete in the Live shows.

I've already auditioned but no word yet, fingers crossed. When I do find out, I'll definitely let you know!

Here's a clip of last year's Kollaboration:
